In today’s Pokémon game, I flipped the usual formula.
Instead of playing heroes, the players took on the role of an evil team (essentially their own version of Team Rocket) while being relentlessly pursued by a persistent police officer.
To make things even more fun, I gave them full creative freedom to design their rival.
They came up with:
Officer Robbie Bobbingten: a confident male drag queen who is both a skilled Pokémon trainer and a dedicated police officer.

👥 Players
- Alex as Jackie Chan (NB) — Possible Ditto user with Aegislash and Gholdengo
- Kiwii as Kyle (M) — Shiny Tangela and Vaporeon
- YS as Herman (M) — Oshawott and Wailord
- Eric as Dominique (M) — Charizard and Umbreon

[Some of the player's brought their own plushies]
🌍 Background
For years, the players have worked for Team Lay-Ry, an organization that claims to “protect” powerful Pokémon by taking them away from trainers who might misuse them.
In reality, this is just a justification for theft.
Most members, especially the younger ones, were recruited from the age of 10 and grew up believing they were doing the right thing—“liberating” Pokémon for safekeeping.
🎬 Prologue
The session begins with the players captured by Officer Bobbingten.
Instead of arresting them outright, he confronts them with the truth: what they’ve been doing is wrong.
He offers them a deal, help him take down Team Lay-Ry from the inside.
With their leader, Larry, planning something big, the players agree to become double agents.
🧩 Scene 1: Team Beary Encounter
The players track down a subgroup called Team Beary, made up of:
- Gayle (Ursaring)
- Gaile (Beartic)
- Guy (Pangoro)
- Gary (Bibarel… because he insists it’s a bear)
They find Team Beary robbing a school and roughing up a boy named Andy for his Pokémon.
Trying to stay undercover, Dominique joins in and intimidates the boy to impress Gary. During the scuffle, the boy’s Magikarp is released and a battle begins.
Mid-fight, the Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, briefly overpowering Dominique’s Charizard. However, the rest of the group jumps in, overwhelming it in a brutal 7 vs 1 fight.
During the chaos, Andy is badly injured.
The players flee:
- Herman summons Wailord, using it to escape
- Andy’s body is carried with them
- Dominique takes Andy’s newly evolved Gyarados
🧩 Scene 2: The Plan
Gary reveals the reason behind the attack.
Andy’s father has discovered ancient Pokémon, including Regigigas.
The plan:
- One group will act as a distraction
- The other will infiltrate and capture Regigigas
The players choose to be the distraction, leaving Team Beary to pursue Regigigas.
🧩 Scene 3 — The Lab Incident
While Team Beary heads for Regigigas, the players infiltrate another section of the lab.
Inside, they find scientists experimenting on Regice.
Jackie has Gholdengo use Make It Rain, instantly knocking out the scientists and also enraging Regice.
A brutal battle begins.
The fight nearly wipes the party… until Herman makes a wild call:
He summons Wailord and uses a massive body slam (ruled as a Slash attack).
- Wailord weighs ~870 pounds
- Damage rule: 1d6 per 10 pounds
- Total: 87d6 damage
- Result: 300+ damage
The attack devastates everything.
The lab collapses.
The Regice is neutralized.
The entire party is knocked unconscious.
🧩 Scene 4 — The Aftermath
Hours later, Officer Bobbingten arrives at the destroyed lab.
Seeing the players still there while the others have escaped, he assumes:
They heroically stayed behind to defend the lab.
The players, now seen as “heroes”…
…are still very much villains underneath.
